Bio
John’s desire to learn and experience all of what is involved in bringing cane to glass has taken him to rum education programs, events, distilleries, and rum and sugar production operations across the Caribbean and beyond.
After years as a rum collector and enthusiast, John began judging regularly for international rum festivals and competitions starting with the Ministry of Rum Festival in San Francisco in 2010.
In 2011, John started the Glasgow Rum Club to spread the knowledge of rum and connect bartenders with distillers, producers, and educators. He co-founded Rum Symposium London (2013), Copenhagen (2016), and Amsterdam (2018).
